Andy: Thank you for the office photos. I see two of the metal benches are gone. Any idea what the state will do with the office? It would make a great Rainelle/Meadow River Museum. Re: memories, that would take a few books, however, I will post 3. I remember the faces of those scared people coming in to take their learner's permit tests. I did the learner's tests for years. I tried to make that ordeal as easy and unstressful as possible for the people. I have another memory that for some reason pops to mind right here I remember a hot summer day when one of the troopers had been running radar for quite some time in Lilly Park. He backed into a private driveway and put his radar gun up waiting on those speeders. I don't remember how long he had been there but the owner of the house came down the driveway toward the patrol car. The officer thought (his words here) "I thought I was gonna get a cussin. I was sure she was going to run me off." But, alas, no! She offered him a glass of - I think it was lemonade - that really made an impression on him and on all of us. Normally, we were offered *&^&*(&((&( words and such... I have learned in the past years that woman has done many deeds of kindness for many people quietly and behind the scenes, as Jesus did. Another memory that comes to mind because of this board, is a precious blond headed lady came in the office one day and knowing I was a # 3 fan, gave me a Dale Earnhardt soda bottle - full and capped, which I still have. Now I wonder who those two precious ladies are??? Take a bow Andy and MJ - in that order... |
