EDNA SUTPHIN WILLIAMS - Class of '52

BLUEFIELD, Va. — Edna Louisa Williams, 74, of 107 Fincastle Lane, Bluefield, Va., died Sunday, May 10, 2009 at Bluefield Regional Medical Center. She was born in Smoot, W.Va. and was the daughter of the late Margie Bright Sutphin. Edna was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Bluefield, Va. She was a hairdresser and owned and operated the Beauty Time Salon in Bluefield, Va. for over 50 years.

She was a 1952 graduate of Rainelle High School where she was a cheerleader, member of the National Honor Society, attended the West Virginia Governor's School for Girls, and graduated from the Little French Beauty Academy. She was also a member of the Support Group, and she was also a great humanitarian.

In addition to her mother, she was preceded in death by her grandmother, Cora Kellison Peery; brothers, Bill, Dewey L., Earl, and Robert L. Sutphin; and a sister, Hester Jones.She is survived by her husband, Thurman Wray Williams; daughters, Linda Williams Felts and husband Derrick, Princeton, W.Va., Cynthia Williams Owens and husband Mark, Bluefield, Va., Carol S. Williams Smith and husband Todd and their daughter, Abigail Nicole Smith, Bluefield, Va.; brother, Carl Sutphin and wife Joyce, Peterstown, W.Va.; several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held Tuesday, May 12, 2009 at 2:00 p.m. at the First United Methodist Church in Bluefield, Va. with the Rev. Ray Amos officiating. Burial will follow in the Grandview Memory Gardens.
